Even though there are many ways in which you can learn how to root the Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000, I will try to explain the easiest and safest ones of them. In due course of this tutorial we will be checking in how to root the GT-P1000 that runs the Android Froyo, or the Android Gingerbread OS. You have it all explained in a step by step procedure, so regardless to the version of the firmware, your tablet will now be opened for changes and improvements.

In order to make it clear, the present tutorial can be applied only for the Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000, which is the first ever tablet computer released by the South Korea-based company; don’t try to do the same on other similar Android powered devices because you can wreck its internal system. As usual, the root process is making you void the warranty, so wrecking the device is the last thing you want to happen. As you know, the GT-P1000 is not a high end tablet, its specs including a 1 GHz Cortex-A8 processor, 512 MB of RAM, 16 / 32 GB of internal storage memory, a 3.15 MP camera, a 7 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen and the Android OS, version 2.2 (Froyo) which can be upgradable to Gingerbread. The best part is that you can power up these performances by making optimization and customization operations. Gaining root access is one of these procedures, so completing the same is no longer an option for you.

Once you root the Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 its system will be unchained; you will be able to improve the speeds, overclock the system, improve the battery life, install custom recovery images, flash custom ROMs, or update the OS with beta and unofficial firmware. Not long ago, we have showed you how to update the Galaxy tab by installing the AOKP ICS Android 4.0 software, an update which can be applied only if your device is rooted. You can see where I’m going aren’t you? Anyway, the benefits that come with a rooted device are numerous.

As I mentioned in the introduction, this guide will be divided in three parts: the Froyo one, the Gingerbread 2.3 one and finally the Gingerbread 2.3.3 one. In each section you will have to use some apps which, in a few words, will do almost all the work for you. Now, let’s see what else you need to know and prepare before starting the proper step by step guide; just take a look over the list from below:

• First of all, backup the tablet data. If not you can lose your messages, contacts, Market apps and so on. For performing a full backup you can follow our previous guides: download SMS backup and restore apps for Android, sync contacts with Gmail account, or download call log backup and restore apps.
• You must have access to a computer, to the tablet and to its USB cord.
• Download and install Samsung Kies Mini on the computer.
• On the Galaxy Tab enable USB debugging “Settings -> Application -> Development -> USB Debugging”.
• Remember that rooting the device will make you void the warranty.
• Download the USB drivers (from here) for your tablet and install the same on the PC.

After completing the up mentioned you can start looking on the guide that suits your tablet. Apply the steps that are referring to the version of the Android OS that runs on your device. Read carefully, do as explained and in the end share the issues (if there are some) with us.

Root the Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 that runs Android 2.2 Froyo

1. First, take the tablet and go to “Settings -> Applications” and then choose “Unknown sources”.
2. Download the z4root tool from here and place it on the PC.
3. Connect the device with the computer and copy the app to your tablet.
4. Install the same.
5. If you can’t install it, you should download Astro File Manager or ES File Explorer on your Galaxy Tab. Both tools can be downloaded for free from Google Play.
6. Run the z4root software.
7. Just tap on “Permanent Root” and wait until the process ends.

Root the Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 that runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread

1. Uninstall, or disable the Firewall programs and the Kies Mini from the PC and from the tablet.
2. Then download the SuperOneClick app from here and place the same on the computer.
3. Unzip the file.
4. Connect the tablet with the computer by using its USB cord.
5. Run SuperOneClick.
6. Just select the “Root” option.
7. Wait several minutes (5, or 10) until the process ends and disconnect the device from the PC.

Root the Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 that runs Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread

1. Download the DooMLoRD’s Easy Rooting Toolkit 4.0 app from here and save it on your computer.
2. Unzip the file.
3. Disable, uninstall Samsung Kies and Firewall programs from both, the PC and tablet.
4. Connect the Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 with the PC via USB cord.
5. Run the file named “runme.bat”.
6. Just follow the prompts displayed.
7. Then wait until the process is done.

Finally, you are now supposedly having a rooted Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000. You can now safely go and update its OS to Ice Cream Sandwich or why not install a custom ROM into the system. my old frimware froyo 2.2 and try with every method z4root and super one click and toolkit all new version but nothing and change to gingerbread 2.3.3 and then try all method but nothing nothing nothing, with super one click install superuser.app but when i go in the recovery mode nothing change i want “install zip from SD card” for install jelly bean 4.2.2

i cnt seem to be able to download the drivers. it says error request denied?????? plizz help me now

wen i try to download samsung mini. it says samsung mini for vibrant. is it safe for my galaxy tab gt p1000?

i perform all the steps above, now my problem is how would i know if my galaxy tab is already rooted? is there any apps installed like super user?

Cant root. Z4root stuck on phase 1 only. Any solution?
